Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero was an American model and singer. Kotero was also co-starring with Prince in his 1984 film Purple Rain. She's best known for her role in Prince's 1984 movie Purple Rain as well as being the singer-in-chief of Apollonia 6, a girl group. The group was just one of the female performers who gained of Prince's involvement in the 1980s. Born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959, her professional career started as a model and actress towards the end of the 1970s with a role in the television series CHiPS. The female lead of Prince's Purple Rain was her first part in the year 1984. Prince changed the girl's name during this time. She replaced Vanity with the female duo Vanity 6 to perform in the film with Apollonia 6 replacing Vanity. Sex Shooter, the group's minor-hit song in the film's soundtrack, was her biggest chart success. Kotero's relationship with Prince came to an end when the duo had an argument over her future career path. Apollonia 6, the organization she was a part of was ended up splitting. She was later seen in a few minor roles during this time (reportedly refusing to take part as a character in The Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) and then landed an appearance on the evening-time television drama Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia had the opportunity to launch her debut album in 1988. Unfortunately, it did not leave an lasting impression on fans of music and was soon obliterated from the spotlight. She continued acting (if somewhat under the radar) during the subsequent decade. The small roles on TV small films and exercise videos kept her active. In 1997 Apollonia made a record in English and Spanish called Stay With me. Later, she returned to the school and to study filmmaking, and formed her own production firm, which mainly focuses on children's television. Apollonia Kotero is a household name for her many roles. She is a former model, singer actress and talent supervisor. Purple Rain, the 1984 movie in which she starred is her most famous performance.
